A trust seal is available to companies to display in an effort to boost consumer confidence, increase sales and show the steps companies have taken to protect their customers interests. There are several trust seals available from different companies, and the requirements for displaying these seals will vary, but typically involve a dedication to good security practices, privacy policies or integrity. Internet trust seals can come in a variety of forms, including security seals, business seals and privacy seals and are available from a variety of companies with a wide range of price options, depending on the features of the seal. But ours is the only seal that proves you're a Certified USA Business.™
Trust Seal Recommendations:
We recommend having 3 to 4 trust seals on your website to help build consumer confidence.
Security Seals:
It is always good to have a trust seal indicating security (McAfee HackerSafe) is a popular trust seal for this, but there are several to choose from including Comodo, VeriSign, etc. The most cost effective way to promote security on your site is to use your SSL Certificate Seal. You should have a security certificate associated with your web domain. You are already paying for this, now you just need to add the seal to your site. See your hosting service for more details on this.
Integrity Seals:
The BBB (Better Business Bureau) site seal is a good seal to indicate you are an upstanding company in good standing with the BBB. It also gives consumers relief in knowing that they can approach the Better Business Bureau should they feel they cannot resolve any issue with your company directly. The BBB also provides a company rating from A+ to F which is a good tool for consumers when comparison shopping.
Privacy Seals:
It's a good idea to provide a privacy statement on your site to indicate to your potential customers how you use the information they provide. You can also go a step further and get a third party verfied privacy seal. TRUSTe is a popular choice for this, but in most cases, clearly indicating a link to your online privacy statement and indicating your policies clearly within that statement should be sufficient.
USAB Certification Seal:
Our seal, of course, offers third party verification that your business, among other proprietary qualifications, is owned and operated in the USA. The USAB Seal helps your business stand out among other sites that are not certified and it helps to promote growth in the small to mid-size business community.
Bottom line... If you are accepting credit cards online or asking for personal information on your site, it is a good idea to have a Security Seal, an Integrity Seal and a Certification Seal. These 3 seals, if well placed, can increase consumer confidence and your ROI. |
